Though the Vedic way of life is nice, with no need of machines for progress,we should agree that not many would be willing to use their hands for mining, agriculture:such modern machines are welcome in this age,as the metals necessary for computers/airplanes/trains etc are obtained by the mining industry. How to make society progress without such items, necessary for progress? One can go living in a secluded place, cultivating organic veg,but would be deprived of such modern inventions necessary for communications, and used by HDG:" all inventions can be used for Krishna consciousness"Unfortunately,by the unregulated or corrupt way such industries are managed, even teh Ganga and Yamuna are being poisoned!
Should devotees make more efforts to live a simple life,in self-sufficient villages or carry on profiting from the industrial products....and criticise it?

Finally, a devotee said it: dairy cows are all slaughtered. What is the difference between eating beef and drinking milk from cows headed to the slaughter house? Zilch! The argument, "Krsna loves milk!" does not sanction the slaughter of cows. In the Vedas, milk consumption was encouraged because cows were never killed! There is no choice but to become vegan as far as dairy is concerned. And it concerns me that our temples all serve dairy from cows probably slaughtered by the time our deity offering has been reached the altar. Think, devotees! You are implicated in this act!
